Our History

IPTRADE Inc. was founded in the fall of 2002 by Alisa and Baruch Pletner with the mission to provide high quality engineering services to leading companies in the semiconductor capital equipment and precision manufacturing equipment industries. We have since grown to over ten employees split between our headquarters in Newton, Massachusetts and our Israeli subsidiary, IPTRADE Engineering Solutions (Israel), Ltd. We have been fortunate to establish strong and lasting relationships with leading customers such as Nikon Corporation of Japan, and are constantly trying to find better ways to serve our customers through real-life application of our motto: Real Science. Real Results.

Management Team

Alisa Hoffman Pletner, CEO.
Alisa has been a business owner and entrepreneur since 1985, with interests ranging from real estate management to restaurant ownership. Since co-founding IPTRADE Inc. in 2002, Alisa has guided the company through several stages of growth while maintaining continuous profitability since the very beginning. Alisa holds a Bachelor degree in English Literature and Education from Haifa University.

Baruch Pletner, President & COO.
Baruch has been active in the scientific community in the area of smart structures and active vibration control since 1994. Upon finishing his PhD In 1997 Baruch joined Active Control eXperts (ACX), a Cambridge startup and helped guided the company in the direction of semiconductor capital equipment. This led to the acquisition of ACX by Cymer, Inc., a leading manufacturer of excimer lasers where Baruch was a Director of Lithography Applications. After co-founding IPTRADE Inc., Baruch served as Senior Vice President before becoming President & COO. Baruch holds Bachelor, Master, and PhD degrees from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and an MBA degree from Northeastern University. He is also the author of numerous scientific papers and two patents in the area of smart structures technology.

Gareth McKinley, Chief Scientist
We are proud to announce that Professor Gareth McKinley of MIT has joined the IPTRADE management team as a Chief Scientist. Professor McKinley is one of the World’s leading authorities in fluid dynamics and will be of invaluable help in our ongoing quest to provide even better service to our most demanding customers.

Intellectual Property

Vibration and Motion Control
IPTRADE has considerable expertise in various methods of passive and active vibration control and vibration isolation, with a particular emphasis on vibration control systems utilizing piezoceramics actuators and sensors. Dr. Baruch Pletner, IPTRADE’s co-founder, holds several patents (link) in the area of vibration control and has led teams in the design of controllers for such high precision applications as lithography stages, optical equipment vibration isolation, reduction of sound in automotive interiors, and many other challenging applications.
